Timeline

1930

Mr Koh came to Nanyang from Fujian province. He rented a shop space in Jurong and began manufacturing noodles by hand.

1940

During the Japanese occupation, business was halted. It was only resumed after the period.

1960

Mr Koh’s grandson took over operations while his son pushed sales alone by visiting various provision shops, mainly around Jurong.

1970

The introduction of machinery saw more variety of products. “Hup Huat” was registered.

1980

Made mandatory by the government, Hup Huat moved to a proper
factory in Jurong and continued its operations there.

1981

Hup Huat Pte Ltd was registered.

1990

More machinery meant manufacturing process was half-automated.
The entire process was done indoors.

2000

Products were distributed to major supermarket chains.

2002

Sun brand and Star Flower brand were introduced under Hup Huat
Noodles.

2011

Mr Koh Leong Hai received the 2011 Successful Entrepreneur
Award. The new generation representative Xu Shi Ge oversees the
re-branding process and explores the organic market.

2012

Hup Huat unveils new brand image, continues to be renowned
noodles specialist in Singapore.

2016

Hup Huat revamps the brand to continually support the business
direction of Hup Huat Noodles.
